Driver Enters Imbas Hospital Truck Break Through Sentolo-Rewulu DIY Crossing, PT KAI Takes Legal Path

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) confirmed that it would take legal action related to the case of a truck breaking through the crossing between Sentolo-Rewulu in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

"We have to undergo treatment at the hospital. Furthermore, KAI will take legal action against this incident, currently the truck driver who has been secured at the Bantul Police," said KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, September 25.

Anne said that PT KAI regretted that the train 70 incident (KA Taksaka, the Gambir Station - Yogyakarta) was hit by a truck at the Regional Crossing (JPL 714) between Sentolo Station Rewulu Station on Wednesday at 03.52 WIB.

There were no casualties in the incident, as were the passengers and the Taksaka train crew. "The driver and assistant driver of the Taksaka KA suffered an injury which was then treated at PKU Muhamadiyah Wates Hospital," he said.

Anne explained that the first thing to do with the incident was to ensure that all passengers and crew survived and the evacuation acceleration anticipated a slowdown quickly.

He explained that the incident began when the truck driver with Nopol B 9240 UIQ allegedly did not heed the sirens or signaled that the train would pass. So the truck was trapped and the collision occurred.

The accident disrupted a number of train trips, damage to the New Livery Taksaka train facilities and crossing post infrastructure.

"Where KAI suffered losses as a result of the incident, it is currently still in the process of being calculated," Anne explained.

Furthermore, train passengers who experience delays due to this incident will be given a Service Recovery (SR). For KA 70 Taksaka after the evacuation continued their journey to the final station of Yogyakarta Station, it was 192 minutes late.

Anne said several trains that were disrupted as a result of the incident were KA 90 Mataram 15 minutes late; KA 104 Singasari 24 minutes late; PLB 136a (Bogowonto) 27 minutes late; KA 581 (KA airport to YIA) 24 minutes late; PLB 564A (KA airport to Yogyakarta) 41 minutes late; and PLB 701A (KA airport to YIA) 16 minutes late.

"We apologize to the train passengers who experienced delays due to this incident. Furthermore, KAI will try to maintain the comfort of the passengers," said Anne.

KAI urges road users to always obey the rules at level crossings. When the train is passing, there are sirens or signs or bars starting to close, it means road users have to stop.

This is in accordance with Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation Article 114 which reads, at a level crossing between the railway and road lines, vehicle drivers must stop when the signal has sounded.

"Then the railroad doors have begun to be closed and or there are other signs, prioritize trains, and give the main rights to vehicles that first cross the tracks," he explained.

In addition to complying with signs, KAI also appealed to the public to be careful when crossing a highway crossing by train.

"Always do it to stop, look left and right, if it is safe, please go ahead. KAI will continue to make calls for safety both internally and externally as a preventive effort in order to reduce the number of accidents, especially at level crossings," said Anne.

Even so, Anne said that currently the train journey after the incident had returned and was running normally.
