Survey: A Decade Of Jokowi Successfully Builds A Strong Foundation For Economic Growth

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is considered successful during his one-decade (10 years) leadership. This is marked by satisfactory achievements in three indexes and international indicators based on a report released by LSI Denny JA on Tuesday.

According to LSI Denny JA, Jokowi's success assessment is based on data from credible international institutions, such as the World Bank, The Heritage Foundation, to the Social Progress Imperfect.

"Overall, for a decade leading, Jokowi has shown a lot of success," said LSI researcher Denny JA, Ardian Sopa in a press release, received, Wednesday, September 25.

LSI Denny JA highlighted that Indonesia is experiencing significant progress in various aspects, including in terms of GDP, economic freedom, and social progress through social progress index.

The first blue report came from indicators of gross domestic product (GDP) and GDP per capita which were assessed by the World Bank. In the 2014-2023 period, Indonesia's GDP increased by around US$ 509 billion.

"In 2014, Indonesia's GDP was recorded at US$891 billion with a GDP per capita of US$3,477. Meanwhile, in 2023, GDP rose to US$1.4 trillion with GDP per capita of US$4,941," explained Ardian.

Second, the economic freedom index measured by The Heritage Foundation shows an increase. In 2023, the score reached 63.5 and was ranked 53, while in 2014 the score was 58.5 with a ranking of 100.

Third, the social progress index assessed through Social Progress Imperative also showed an increase. In 2014, Indonesia's social progress score was at 61.65 with a rank of 92. In 2023, the score rose to 67.22 with an 80 rating.

According to Ardian, when viewed from the available data, Jokowi has succeeded overall, especially in building a solid foundation for economic growth and social progress in the future.

"If it is only judged from one aspect, such as the democracy index, the report card may be red. However, if we look at other aspects such as GDP, Jokowi's report card is blue. Likewise with the corruption index which can be considered neutral," he said.
