East Java Police Find 4 Cannabis Land Points On The Slope Of Mount Semeru

The East Java Regional Police (Polda) together with the Lumajang Resort Police (Polres) continued to conduct sweeps by expanding the search area until they rediscovered four new land points planted with marijuana plants on the slopes of Mount Semeru.

"This is included in the operation of Tumpas Narcotics and the Lumajang Police to successfully dismantle the marijuana field with a quite fantastic amount of evidence, namely 38 thousand cannabis plants that have been secured at the Lumajang Police Headquarters," said Director of Drug Investigation at the East Java Police, Kombes Robert Da Costa, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 23.

Therefore, he continued, the East Java Regional Police went down to conduct a search again to find a new cannabis land because it was suspected that there was still more land planted with marijuana.

"Today we found four new locations planted with marijuana with a total of about 2,000 cannabis plants and we are continuing to search because it is suspected that there are still many locations made by the perpetrators by growing marijuana which is 100-200 meters away," he said.

He explained that there were four suspects who had been arrested by the Lumajang Police who acted as marijuana growers on the slopes of Mount Semeru, so they were still being investigated to find the masterminds of the main perpetrators.

"The cannabis plant is planted quite far between 100 and 200 meters by utilizing a terrain that is quite difficult for officers to reach," he said.

Police officers are still developing cases to uncover the network of dealers and major dealers behind the case of planting tens of thousands of cannabis plants on the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

"We are sure that there are other perpetrators involved in this case. Therefore, we will continue to develop until all perpetrators can be arrested and processed legally," he said.

Robert expressed his gratitude to the public who had provided valuable information so that the police could uncover the case of finding a marijuana field on the slopes of Mount Semeru, even local residents helping the police in the search.

Initially, the Lumajang Police found as many as 453 cannabis plants that thrived on the slopes of Mount Semeru in Argosari Village, Senduro District, then the following day dozens of land points were found planted with marijuana to become 10 thousand cannabis plants brought to the Lumajang Police Headquarters.

In fact, 38,000 cannabis stems have been secured by the Lumajang Police, which are spread over 32 locations and are now increasing again, bringing the total to around 40,000 cannabis plants.
