Minister Of Religion Again Not Present At The Hajj RDPU With Commission VIII DPR

The Minister of Religion (Menag) was again unable to attend the 2024 Hajj General Opinion Meeting (RDPU) together with Commission VIII of the DPR because he had to attend the overseas work agenda, namely the International Meeting for Peace (IMP) in France.

Present as representatives from the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) namely Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) Saiful Rahmat Dasuki who gave the option for the activity to be carried out online. This is a directive from the Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

"First we apologize, because the minister is carrying out his duties because he is currently in France, in order to carry out his duties to represent the President of Indonesia in Paris. The task trip ends on September 28," said Deputy Minister of Religion Saiful Rahmat Dasuki at the time of the Hajj RDPU reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 23.

"There is an option that he conveyed (Menag), willing to be online," said the Deputy Minister of Religion.

The option conveyed cannot be accepted by the leadership of Commission VIII of the DPR, Ashabul Kahfi. His party still asked the Minister of Religion to appear face-to-face to be held accountable for the implementation of the 2024 Hajj.

"Based on the regulation, this working meeting must be attended by the Minister of Religion and we can reschedule it on September 27. That later he can be physically present or otherwise, later discussed at the leadership level," said Ashabul Kahfi.

The physical presence of the Minister of Religion to account for the implementation of the 2024 Hajj has indeed been stipulated in Law Number 8 of 2019. In Article 43 of the fifth section, it is clearly stated that the minister evaluates the implementation of the Hajj.

Furthermore, in the second paragraph, it is stated that the evaluation report and accountability report must be explained to the President and also the DPR no later than 60 days after the Hajj ends.

"The explanation is clear that the minister should not be represented and must be present alone and submit his report," said Member of the DPR Hajj Special Committee Wisnu Wijaya who was also present at the RDPU activity.

The plan is for the RDPU activities to be attended by several relevant ministries, such as the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), and also Garuda Indonesia airlines.

However, with various activities, related officials cannot attend these activities and are only represented by relevant agencies, so that the agenda for this meeting must be postponed again until 27 September and hopes that officials from related agencies can attend these follow-up activities.

"In accordance with the proposal of members and based on the rules and regulations that have been submitted by members and leaders. So this Hajj evaluation work meeting, we will schedule it on the next occasion and we convey to you, the remaining opportunities available are only on September 27," said Ashabul Kahfi.
