Early Monday School Building In Sentani Papua Suddenly Caught Fire, Police Intervened
SENTANI - Jayapura Resort Police, Papua, investigated the cause of the fire at the YPK Elementary School (SD) Marthen Luther Sentani which occurred on Monday, September 23 in the morning at 00.02 WIT.
The fire caused the four classrooms III A-B and IV A-B at the school to be sold out.
Jayapura Police Chief AKBP Umar Nasatekay confirmed the fire incident and said the police had visited the scene.
"Yes, there was indeed a fire that scorched several classrooms and the team had gone down to process the crime scene (TKP)," he said.
The police chief has not been able to confirm the cause of the school building fire because his party is still conducting an investigation.
"Later, the results of the new crime scene can be revealed the cause of the fire incident, but currently the location of the incident has been installed with a police line," he said.
An eye witness who is also a teacher at SD YPK Marthen Luther Sentani, Yusak Gaki, also admitted that he did not know the cause of the fire because he saw that the fire had suddenly started from inside the IV A-B classroom.
"It happened so quickly that in an instant it scorched four A-B third class rooms and IV A-B classrooms along with the contents of the facilities inside, both table chairs and books were all consumed by fire," he said.

In the fire incident there were no casualties, only building facilities and textbooks were burned down.
"After that, the fire that scorched four classrooms was successfully extinguished by the firefighters and the water canon at 01.33 WIT," he said.
