Thousands Of People Demonstrations In France Demand President Emmanuel Macron's Impeachment

JAKARTA - Thousands of French citizens took to the streets in Paris, Lyon, and Marseille on Saturday (21/9), demanding the resignation and impeachment of President Emmanuel Macron.

The demonstrators accused Macron of ignoring the election results won by the New Popular Front (NFP), the green-left alliance.

Macron prefers Milchel Barnier, who is in the middle, as prime minister rather than a candidate from the left-wing coalition,waki Castets.

"We are struggling to convince people to choose at any time, to explain the importance of choosing," Laly, 23, told Anadolu.

He stressed that Macron's indifference to the election results poses a major problem for democracy.

The demonstrators then collected signatures demanding Macron's dismissal before his presidential term ends in 2027.

In addition to Macron's dismissal, the protesters demanded an increase in the minimum wage and reduce retirement age.

Several activists from New Caledonia also demonstrated. They complained about the high cost of living in French territory abroad.

The protests involved lawmakers, activists and Palestinian supporters.
