PHE And PIS Sign The MoU For Carbon Transportation And Storage
JAKARTA PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) together with PT Pertamina Internasional Shipping (PIS) signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding carbon transportation and storage.
PIS CEO Yoki Firnandi said the signing of the MoU was carried out as a symbolic of the initial agreement on the provision of liquid CO2 transportation and terminal receiving in the development of the carbon business between PT Pertamina Hulu Energi and PT Pertamina Internasional Shipping.
"The signing of this MoU is a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding between PT Pertamina Hulu Energi and PT Pertamina International Shipping regarding the Joint Study for the Preparation of Transportation & Receiving Terminal LCO2," said Yoki, quoted on Saturday, February 21.
According to him, this collaboration allows PHE and PIS to take on the role or position in the new business CCS, especially in CO2 transport and CO2 storage.
Through this MoU, PHE and PIS will synergize in carrying out the potential for cooperation in providing transportation by sea by using ship modes to provide onshore transport and terminal recipients and offline floating storage Liquefied CO2 in the development of the carbon business managed by PHE and its affiliates.
Yoki added that PIS' readiness in this decarbonization effort was measurable from the strength of the green wheels fleet, the use of alternative fuels, to the ownership of the green terminal.

A number of ships from the PIS fleet line have used biofuels as fuel, coupled with the presence of new ships that are also prepared for the use of low-carbon alternative fuels.
