Fadli Zon Urges To Implement UN Resolution, Israel Must End Palestinian Population

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives' Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Fadli Zon, urged the international community to immediately formulate concrete steps to implement the Palestinian UN Resolution. The resolution calls for the cessation of Israeli occupation in the Palestinian territories within one year, as well as the application of sanctions if Israel does not comply.

Fadli Zon insists that the Palestinian UN Resolution is a very important historic moment, but its implementation must be realized immediately. "This resolution is very positive and needs to be appreciated. However, what is more important is how to ensure its implementation. We hope that within a year, Israel will withdraw from the West Bank, Gaza, and stop the construction of illegal settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem," Fadli Zon said in a statement in Jakarta, Friday, September 20.

Fadli also highlighted the importance of international pressure, especially from the United Nations, so that this resolution is carried out concretely. Although this resolution is not binding, Fadli Zon emphasized that the moral message conveyed is very strong. Resolutions of the UN Security Council that bind are difficult to implement, especially from the UN General Assembly. Don't let this be just a neglected document," he added.

As Vice President of the Global Parliamentary League for Palestine, Fadli Zon said that the world is increasingly showing dissatisfaction with Israel's actions that have lasted more than seven decades. He underlined the act of Israeli genocide that has led to the deaths of more than 41,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as well as the impact of apartheid, expulsion, and massacre of Palestinians.

Fadli Zon also highlighted that this resolution reflects changes in attitude among Israeli allies. "Israel's allies, especially in the West, are starting to realize their mistakes, except the United States. Of the five countries with veto rights on the UN Security Council, only the US continues to support Israel," he stressed.

With this Palestinian UN Resolution, Fadli Zon hopes that this resolution can be the basis for further steps at the UN Security Council to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and realize a just peace for the Palestinian people.
