Get Ready, The Terbanggi Besar-Kayu Agung Toll Road Will Soon Rise

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) (Hutama Karya) will soon adjust the Terbanggi Besar-Kayu Agung (Terpeka) toll tariff.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Adjib Al Hakim said this step was necessary for toll infrastructure investment sustainability and optimization of service quality for toll users.

"Since operating five years ago, Hutama Karya has never adjusted the Terpeka toll rate. However, we continue to improve the facilities and service quality on the Terpeka Toll Road in accordance with SPM. During this socialization period, we will first convey intensive information to to toll road users so that they understand the reasons and mechanisms for adjusting this tariff," said Adjib in a written statement, Friday, September 20.

He said this was following the issuance of a Decree (SK) of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) No. 2420 of 2024 concerning Adjustments to the Terbanggi Besar Tariff of Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung (Terpeka).

The operation of the Terpeka Toll Road makes the trip from Bakauheni Port to Kayuagung which previously had to be taken in 8 to 10 hours can now be reached in just 4 to 5 hours.

In addition, the Terpeka Toll Road has also had an impact on the surrounding economy.

This can be seen from the existence of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the toll road rest area.

"Hutama Karya also supports the development of local MSMEs by prioritizing 70 percent of tenant land in rest areas for MSMEs, offering rental rates lower than commercial prices," he said.

As for the Terpeka Toll Road, there are 9 rest areas equipped with gas stations, SPKLU, toilets, mosques and food tenants.

In addition, the rest area also provides space for lactation, ladies parking, and waste management using magazine cultivation.

This toll road is also equipped with 69 standby fleets, 17 VMS and 353 CCTVs to monitor road user safety and carry out a number of routine maintenance and quality improvements, both by means of beautification, screening filling overlay (SFO), reforestation, painting and rigid concrete reconstruction.

"With the upcoming tariff adjustment, we hope that road users can continue to drive in an orderly manner with the existing provisions," he added.
