Arrest 2 Bandars, Jambi Police Confiscate 2 Kg Of Drugs Worth IDR 2.6 Billion When Sent To South Sumatra

JAMBI - The Directorate of Drug Investigation (Ditresnarkoba) of the Jambi Police thwarted the delivery of methamphetamine to the Betung area, South Sumatra, worth Rp. 2.6 billion.

Deputy Director of Drug Investigation at the Jambi Police, AKBP Priyo Wiryanto, said that at that time investigators received information about the shipment of drug packages to the Betung area, South Sumatra, and immediately conducted an investigation.

"From this disclosure, two couriers of methamphetamine, namely IN and MS, who are residents of South Sumatra. The police confiscated approximately 2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from the two couriers," he explained in Jambi, Antara, Friday, September 20.

The two methamphetamine couriers were arrested at different locations, namely the suspect IN was arrested in Merlung, West Tanjung Jabung, Jambi Province, while MS was arrested on Jalan Lintas KM 101 Sungai Lilin, Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra.

In this disclosure, the police first arrested the suspect, the IN perpetrator, in Merlung, after the police carried out various series of investigations.

After the arrest of IN, the police immediately carried out an interrogation. From the development of the case, it was found that the methamphetamine would be brought to the South Sumatra region. Then the personnel arrested MS in the Betung area of South Sumatra.

After the two of them were arrested, the personnel conducted an in-depth investigation and found out that the methamphetamine type drugs came from Aceh, but were sent via Pekanbaru.

"So the network is from Aceh and Pekanbaru," he said.

According to the suspect's confession, this is the first time they have made this methamphetamine shipment.

From this drug delivery service, both of them were given wages of Rp. 20 million per kilogram. The methamphetamine is certain to be circulated outside Jambi Province.

From the disclosure of this case, police personnel managed to save 10,040 lives. And if it is rehabilitated at a cost of Rp. 4.5 million per person, the costs incurred by the government reach Rp. 45 billion.

Meanwhile, if 1 gram of crystal methamphetamine is worth Rp. 1.3 million, the total value of the evidence of methamphetamine will reach Rp. 2.6 billion.

"Their confession is the first time they deliver drugs," he said.

The suspect admitted that he was desperate to become a drug courier for methamphetamine because of economic factors to meet his daily needs.

As a result of their actions, the suspects were subject to Article 114 paragraph 2 and/or Article 112 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2019 concerning narcotics with a threat of 20 years or life imprisonment or the death penalty.
