Lebanese Walkie Talkie Battery Exploded Allegedly Mixed By High-State-Alleed Compound PETN
JAKARTA The walkie-talkie battery of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah that exploded was allegedly inserted with a high explosive compound known as PETN.
PETN is an organic compound that is very volatile and belongs to the same chemical family asorigliserin and sensecalulosa.
Reuters quoted Lebanese sources as familiar with the device's components as saying Friday, September 20.
The way explosives are integrated into batteries makes it very difficult to detect, the source said.
As previously reported, 37 people were killed and more than 3,000 people injured when the pager and walkie-talkie used by Hezbollah members exploded in two waves of attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
