Porsche Files Unique 6-Tak Machine Patent, What's The Concept Like?

JAKARTA - Porsche recently filed its newest engine patent.

Launching from AutoGuide, Friday, September 20, it is known that Porsche filed a patent application to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the design of an innovative engine of "six-stroke" which is considered to provide great profits in efficiency and power density.

This innovation was jointly developed with the University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania. The proposed machine has a unique mechanism concept when compared to the ICE engine in four-wheeled vehicles in general.

The engine has a unique engkol axis mechanism that moves in an (annulus) ring, producing a movement similar to a spirograph. Of course, this is different from conventional machines, where engkol's axis spin creates two different top dead centers (TDC) and different bottom dead centers (BDC) during its cycle.

This system completes a full one-cycle with an engkol axis spin of 1080 degrees, which can effectively function as a six-step cycle. However, this is also marked by the presence of two three-step processes, each including power measures and compression measures.

Cylindrical arrangement is very important in applying this method. This includes a piston connected to the planet wheel via connecting rods. The planet wheel with writing and spinning in it, must be connected to the engkol axis.

The unique composition of the unique elements on the planet wheel allows the piston to reach dead centers' that are determined at different positions while facilitating the six-stroke cycle.

The cylinder is equipped with a drain hole and a valve that controls the flow of mixed air-fuel and exhaust gases. This system can also include a mechanism to adjust the ratio and compression time, thereby optimizing the combustion process more.

There is a potential that additional cleaning phases on these machines will help increase efficiency in synthetic electronic fuels (e-fuels) or could help burn hydrogen.

Hydrogen is known for its volatility, which also allows fuel to catch fire with very few air-fuel mixtures.

Thus, the design of this machine is claimed to generate greater power and at the same time offer cleaner combustion when compared to four-tak and two-traditional engines.

The engine configuration is flexible and can cover several cylinders, it can even be adjusted to layouts such as fresh, V, W, or boxer or flat.
