PKS Optimistic Syaikhu-Ilham Habibie Wins West Java Regional Election Even Though Electability Is Only 10.98 Percent

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) remains optimistic that PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu-Ilham Akbar Habibie will win the 2024 West Java (Jabar) Pilkada contestation even though Syaikhu-Ilham's electability in the Political Indicators survey is only 10.98 percent.

PKS spokesman Ahmad Mabruri claims West Java does have its own characteristics in each Pilkada. The survey pattern is low but winning Pilkada like that, he said, also happened when Ahmad Heryawan ran in a political contestation in West Java.

"Yes, in West Java, the pattern is like that, yes. We have also experienced it because Mr. Ahmad is always placed in the most distended number survey, but when the results of the Pilkada always win in first place," Mabruri told reporters at the PKS DPP office, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 19.

Therefore, Mabruri hopes that the same thing will happen to the cagub-cawagub pair Ahmad Syaikhu and Ilham Akbar Habibie in the 2024 Pilkada.

"Hopefully in the West Java Pilkada tomorrow it will also be like that even though the survey results are the smallest, but the ones who will be selected are Mr. Ahmad Syaikhu and Ilham Habibie," he said.

Indonesian Political Indicators released a survey of the electability of candidate pairs in the 2024 West Java gubernatorial election. The pair Ahmad Syaikhu-Ilham Habibie is in second place after the Dedi Mulyadi-Erwan Setiawan pair.

Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, said Dedi-Erwan's electability reached 77.81 percent at the highest. Followed by Ahmad Syaikhu-Ilham Habibie with 10.98 percent.

"Dedi Mulyadi-Erwan Setiawan approximately 77.81 percent. Ahmad Syaikhu-Ilham Habibie 10.98 percent, almost 11 percent. Another name is balanced between Acep-Gitalis and Jeje-Ronald 2.24 percent, the next figure is slightly higher between Acep and Gitalis," said Burhanuddin in a virtual survey release on Thursday, September 12.

The survey was conducted in the period 2-8 September 2024 involving a base of 1,200 people from all provinces of West Java.

The survey was conducted using a face-to-face interview method. The sampling technique is carried out using a simple random sampling method with an error tolerance or margin of error +- 2.9 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
