Bahlil Asks The Director General Of KESDM Not To Rush About Electricity And EBT Exports

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia asked the director general (Dirjen) at his Ministry not to rush to export electricity from new and renewable energy (EBT).

In fact, he said, EBT RI is the prima donna in Southeast Asia because the whole world is pursuing EBT-oriented manufacturing and green industry. Not only that, but RI also has great potential for EBT and carbon storage that other countries do not have.

"So I have ordered the Director General of Gatrik and Director General of EBTKE not to rush for us to easily carry out the EBT export process," Bahlil said in his remarks on the agenda of the 10th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention and Exhibition (IIGCE) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Wednesday, September 18.

According to him, although he agreed to export green electricity to neighboring countries, he had to attach good importance to domestic needs.

If Indonesia can regulate the electricity needs of EBT and its domestic supply, Bahlil continued, he is optimistic that the world's manufacturing industry will enter Indonesia. With the great domestic potential, he also emphasized the importance of Indonesia being selective in choosing investment partners.

"The name of the beautiful girl, sir, must be a lot of seduction. But try to make us have to be beautiful girls with character. Don't be beautiful girls who are easily twisted by people who are not clear," he continued.

On the other hand, Bahlil also said that Indonesia has the potential for electricity capacity of up to 93 GW, while the potential of Geothermal Power Plants (PLTP) reaches 24 GW.

As for 40 percent of the world's geothermal potential is in Indonesia. However, currently, Indonesia only has a PLTP capacity of 2.6 GW.

Bahlil ensured that Indonesia would utilize energy sources from geothermal to encourage the number of EBT mix targets by 23 percent by 2025.

"Earth heat energy can be one of the important instruments to increase the portion of EBT in the national energy mix," he said.
