Kaesang's Presence To The KPK Did Not Immediately Abort The Public Complaint Investigation Process
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed the presence of the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep to report the use of private jets will not invalidate the ongoing process of investigating public complaints. The analysis was carried out before conducting a follow-up.
"Because today Mr. K has been present to convey information to the Directorate of Gratification, of course it cannot be done that quickly, yes, we can draw conclusions (the process related to public complaints declared dead, ed)," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika to reporters quoted on Wednesday, September 18.
Tessa said the team from the Directorate of Complaints Service Admissions (PLPM) of the KPK will certainly coordinate with the Directorate of Gratification. Every existing finding will certainly be matched with each other.
"It doesn't mean that when you have reported it is finished because there are two different things. The reporting of Kaesang at the Gratification Directorate is in the realm of prevention. Meanwhile, there are reports that enter the Directorate of PLPM under the Deputy for Information and Data (INDA)," he explained.
"So it is possible that the results at the PLPM Directorate are different from what was reported at the Gratification Directorate," continued the spokesman with the investigator's background.
Even so, the Directorate of PLPM needs data to investigate the use of private jet facilities used by Kaesang. Thus, the public and the reporter are welcome to add information related to the allegation.
"If it is the same, reporting at the DEPUTY OF INDA does not have additional information or data, of course when reported, determined and announced at the Directorate of Gratification, the results will be the same at the Directorate of PLPM as well," he said.
Previously reported, the KPK had received two complaints about the use of private jets by the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) who is also the son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Kaesang Pangarep. Those who complained were the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) and lecturers at the Jakarta State University (UNJ) Ubaidillah Badrun.
In its report, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman conveyed that an MoU for cooperation between the Solo City Government and PT Shopee Indonesia International was related to the development of MSMEs. He suspects that the jet aircraft used by Kaesang and his wife, Erina Gudono, was facilitated by the company.
