BNN Thwarts The Transmission Of 29.25 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine In Aceh

The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) thwarted the smuggling of methamphetamine-type narcotics weighing 29.25 kilograms (kg) in Kuala Idi waters, Idi Rayeuk District, East Aceh Regency.

Head of BNN Martinus Hukom said officers also arrested six suspected perpetrators related to the smuggling of prohibited goods from the international network.

The smuggling of methamphetamine-type narcotics weighing 29.25 kg was thwarted on Sunday (8/9). He said the drug smuggling operation began with information from the public who reported the shipment of methamphetamine from the Indonesia-Malaysia network.

From this information, he said, BNN personnel investigated and detected a fishing motorboat which is commonly called a fishing boat suspected of carrying methamphetamine narcotics into the waters in East Aceh Regency.

Furthermore, joint BNN personnel, Aceh Police, and Customs and Excise carried out monitoring in Kuala Idi waters, Idi Rayeuk District, East Aceh Regency.

The joint team saw and approached a motorboat suspected of breaking down about 20 miles from Kuala Idi Beach. Officers approached and checked the motorboat, said Martinus.

"From the results of the inspection, officers found 50 packs in three sacks containing methamphetamine. The sack was previously dumped by the crew of the motorboat and the officers immediately secured three crew members of the motorboat," he said.

The three crew members of the motorboat were JP alias PU, SA alias BA, and AL. The three admitted to getting methamphetamine from someone who speaks Thai around the waters of Adang Island, Thailand.

Furthermore, officers carried out developments from the three crew members of the motorboat. Until finally officers arrested the perpetrator with the initials PH alias PU who was known as the coordinator at Perikanan Port Idi, East Aceh Regency.

"The joint team also arrested two other suspected perpetrators, namely MK and MN alias NA at a pond in the Kuta Lawa Village area, Idi, East Aceh Regency," said Martinus.

The suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) Jo. Article 132 Paragraph (1) subs Article 112 paragraph (2) Jo. Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning narcotics. The maximum penalty is the death penalty or life imprisonment.
