Hong Kong Open 2024: Women's Doubles Ludes
JAKARTA The Indonesian women's doubles sector no longer has representatives at the Hong Kong Open 2024 following the defeat of the Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi pair.
Ana/Tiwi lifted their suitcases from this tournament after losing two straight games 14-21 and 13-21 against third seed from Malaysia, Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan, on Friday, September 13, 2024, noon WIB.
"It must be admitted that the opponent is indeed superior in terms of play. They are in control of the match," said Tiwi after the match as received in a statement from PBSI.
Pearly/Thinaah appeared to dominate the first game. They scored four consecutive points and the closest number gap that Ana/Tiwi could get after that was at 9-10.

In the second game, chasing numbers was presented for the first 10 points. However, after a 5-5 draw, the Indonesian representatives only had one chance to equalize.
"We are quite difficult to turn back into the best game because we continue to be depressed. Actually we can take a few points well, but after that we made our own mistakes," said Tiwi.
Ana/Tiwi are the only Indonesian women's doubles in this tournament. Thus, Indonesia no longer has representatives in the two sectors along with mixed doubles.
This defeat also ended a series of good results from Ana/Tiwi. The pair previously managed to come out as champions at the 2024 China Taipei Open last week.
"Overall, these two weeks are pretty good, but to compete at the top level, we have to learn to be more consistent and more resistant. In addition, we have to increase the accuracy of the punches," said Ana.
Indonesia has a total of seven representatives who reached the quarter-finals of this tournament. Six others are spread across the men's singles, women's singles, and men's doubles sectors.
In detail, the men's singles sector has two representatives, the women's singles has one representative, and the men's doubles number has three representatives who have stepped so far.
