Note, DKI Has 300 Kilometers Of Pedestrian Areas Integrated Transportation Services
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government already has about 300 kilometers of pedestrian areas integrated with public transportation services such as KRL, MRT, LRT and TransJakarta, making pedestrian mobility easier.
"You can carry out mobility by walking from the residential area to the station or bus stop, very easily, we have prepared pedestrian facilities," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, quoting ANTARA, Thursday, September 12.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has also prepared facilities for cyclists. Currently, 314.1 kilometers of bicycle lanes have been built that are connected to all public transportation services in Jakarta including KRL, MRT, LRT, TransJakarta and buses.
He said this is proof that the DKI Provincial Government prioritizes pedestrians and cyclists instead of private vehicles. This is different from the paradigm of thinking that the Provincial Government in the past prioritizes private vehicles.

"Why? The priority for handling the transportation problem in DKI Jakarta must be given to who uses the most modes, namely pedestrians," said Syafrin.
In addition, referring to studies, if the government prioritizes private vehicles, it will automatically not be able to optimize city density and find it difficult to integrate transportation massively.
On the other hand, along with Jakarta's sustainable vision, environmentally friendly vehicles are needed that operate.
For this reason, TransJakarta has operated 100 electric buses and this year it will add 200 more units so that the total becomes 300 electric buses.
"It is hoped that all TransJakarta buses in 2030 will all be electric buses," said Syafrin.
