Hong Kong Open 2024: 7 Leo/Bagas Anniversary Victorys
JAKARTA The pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana secured their seventh straight victory after locking up tickets to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Hong Kong Open.
Leo/Bagas extended their journey in this tournament after fighting rubber games to beat the Chinese Taipei pair and fourth seed Lee Jhe Huei/Yang Po Hsuan.
In the match which took place at Hong Kong Coliseum, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at noon WIB, Leo/Bagas closed the match with a score of 21-18, 14-21, and 22-20.
The Leo/Bagas achievement is a ticket to the second quarter-finals owned by Indonesia from the men's doubles sector. This pair followed their colleague Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Mathin.

Fikri/Daniel have already won over fifth seed from Malaysia, Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, to lock up the meeting with South Korea's third seed, Kang Min-hyuk/Seo Seung-jae.
"Alhamdulillah, I am grateful to be able to follow Fikri/Daniel to the quarter-finals. The match was crowded, especially in the third game," Bagas said after the match, quoted in a statement from PBSI.
Leo/Bagas now need three more wins to get their second title after previously leaving as champions at the Korea Open 2024 two weeks ago.
This result also made Leo/Bagas officially record seven consecutive wins. While playing in Korea, they won five times on their way to winning titles.
Meanwhile, in the quarter-finals, Friday, September 13, 2024, Leo/Bagas will face South Korean representatives, Kim Gi-jung/Kim Sa-rang. The pair qualified for the quarter-finals after stopping Chinese representatives Chen Xu Jun/Liu Yi.
"Tomorrow we meet Kim Gi-jung/Kim Sa-rang. Of course we will all go out again. We are determined to continue to be in a positive trend," said Leo.
Indonesia has a total of four men's doubles in this tournament. Only Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan was eliminated.
The pair nicknamed The Daddies returned home in the first round of the BWF Super 500 event after losing to their compatriots, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.
