For The First Time, Arsenal Don't Use Jersei Home At The North London Derby
JAKARTA - Arsenal will not wear the jersey home when they play the North London derby or The North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur's next door who acts as the host. This is the first time after 38 years that Arsenal have not worn the jersey that is synonymous with the red color.
Arsenal and Tottenham always wear home jerseys in every of their derbys. Because the jerseys of the homes of the two teams are very contrasting.
Jersei home Arsenal is dominated by red. Meanwhile, Tottenham is synonymous with white. This is what Tottenham earned the nickname The Lilywhites.
Because his opponent is identical to white, Arsenal can still wear the home jersey at Tottenham's home. And vice versa when Tottenham visited the Gunners headquarters. They can still wear their white uniforms.
It's just that this season Arsenal are not allowed to wear the jersey home when they play away matches at the first edition of the North London derby which was held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday, September 15, 2024 evening WIB. The reason is, league operators rate their jerseys as 'too white' so they 'collide' with the jersey home Tottenham.
Jersei home Arsenal's 2024/2025 season is a bit different because the white color is quite dominant. On the shoulder, arm and left side of the jersey home are wearing white. Not to mention the players' pants which are also white.
Looks elegant and 'classy' indeed. However, Kai Havertz et al will be bothered if they play an away match against a team that is identical to white like Tottenham.
This is what makes Arsenal wear a jersey away which is dominant in black. This is the first time since the 1985/1986 season, Arsenal have finally worn away jerseys in this derby.
Arsenal actually submitted a request if the players' pants were changed which was red so that Mikel Arteta's troops could still wear the jersey home. However, Arsenal's request was rejected.
