Owner Of 4.000 Meters Of Land In Cipayung, East Jakarta Allegedly Mastermind Behind The Closure Of Water Channels, Cause Of Floods
JAKARTA - The closure of the waterway on Jalan Damai, RT 13/09, Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, turned out to be known to residents.
However, the residents were helpless because the perpetrators closed the water channel on the 4.000 meter area they claimed.
"(The channel is closed) Land owners, individual owners (not PT). The land is about four thousand square meters," said the resident who declined to be named to VOI, Wednesday, September 11.
When the water channel was closed, many local residents also saw the process of backfilling the channel. However, the residents were helpless because they could not enter the land.
"Residents will see when they close the channel. They use cars to back down. We can't enter the location, we're outside," he said.
Although currently the floodwaters have receded, the waterways that pass in the Jalan Damai area, RT 13/09, Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District are still closed.

"The water channel is still closed, but the government will work on it. Residents have also mediated with the sub-district. The results don't know me yet," he said.
Previously, it was reported that the drainage of the waterways on Jalan Damai, Gang Bahagia 1 and 2, RT 13/09, Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, which was closed unilaterally by land owners caused a mass commotion.
The reason is, according to local residents, the water channel was previously still active for decades. However, as a result of the closure, the flow of water in the drains did not flow normally until the water overflowed into residential areas.
Especially if there is rain and there is water sent from other times, residents around RT 13 are getting more and more anxious because the area can automatically be submerged in deeper flooding.
