US Supply Of Tandan Bombs For Ukraine During 2023-2024 Amid International Prohibition
JAKARTA - The Ammunition Coalition (CMC) issued a report on the United States (US) supplying a bunch bomb or cluster musician for Ukraine from July 2023 to April 2024.
CMC is an international organization that monitors ammunition and prohibits the use of bunch bombs from launching its report earlier this week.
"Between July 2023 and April 2024, US President Joe Biden approved five US bunch ammunition transfers delivered via 155 mm artillery projectiles and ballistic missiles to Ukraine. Ukraine may have obtained bunch ammunition from other countries in this period, but reports of the transfer have been denied by relevant countries," the report said., quoted from Tass, Tuesday 10 September.
The report also said the United States announced the delivery of 155 mm rockets with bunch warheads to Ukraine on July 7 and September 2023, as well as March 12, 2024.
Furthermore, the US again informed sending sign bombs and ATACMS missiles on October 17, 2023, and April 24, 2024.
"The US has not disclosed the number of bunch bombs it gave to Ukraine or information about its specific type and failure rate," the report reads.
The CMC said leaders of 21 countries had expressed concern about the US decision to supply a bunch bomb to Ukraine.
Washington's decision was also criticized by the United Nations.
The bunch bomb is known to be banned by 123 countries because it is dangerous for civilians. The ban on the use of the bomb has been signed in the Markan Ammunition Convention.
In its use, a bunch bomb is launched in a missile or missile. The missile then deployed small bombs that exploded when it hit hard. However, the explosion will not occur when it falls on the wet ground, potentially harming civilians because of the bomb that is still active.
