Almost 2 Weeks Of Crocodile Lubang Residents' Houses Inundated With Bau And Dirty Water Due To The Closure Of Unilateral Drainage
JAKARTA - Drainage of waterways on Jalan Damai, Gang Bahagia 1 and 2, RT 13/09, Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, which was closed unilaterally by land owners causing mass noise.
According to local residents, the water channel was previously still active for decades. However, as a result of the closure, the flow of water in the drains did not flow normally until the water overflowed into residential areas.
Especially if there is rain and there is water sent from other times, residents around RT 13 are getting more and more anxious because the area can automatically be submerged in deeper flooding.
"The water channel has been active so far, so the estuary is in RT 13. From RW 06 and 02 it fell into us with the water. So the drainage has been active since yesterday. But because it was dropped, it's (by the land owner), so the water is stockpiled (flooding) RT 13. Even if it rains we sink," said H, a local resident to VOI, Tuesday, September 10.
H explained that the flow from the drainage of the waterways leads to the Sunter River in Lubang Buaya, Cipayung. This water channel, which measures about 2 meters, has existed since the 1980s.
"As a result of the closure of the waterways, residents' houses have been flooded for about 2 weeks. So the water from the sewers has gone up and some of the water has entered the residents' lands. It has entered (resident's houses)," he said.

In addition to flooding dozens of residents' houses, floodwaters also seeps into the soil in residential areas, which has an impact on clean water sources that are also polluted by the drains.
"And the water can't be used anymore. The water smells really bad. So the springs belonging to the residents can no longer be used for bathing. Residents are currently buying gallon water. We have difficulty getting clean water," he said.
Previously, it was reported that the impact of flooding was due to the closure of the drainage of the waterway on Jalan Damai RT 13/09, Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, which is increasingly expanding to other RT areas.
After unilaterally closing the drainage of the waterways, local residents felt aggrieved by the flooding from the overflow of the waterways.
"About 50 houses were affected by the flood, but it turns out that the impact is not only RT 13, RT 04 has also been affected and has expanded to several RTs, the impact is more than 50 houses (KK)," said Bambang Kuncoro, a local resident to reporters at the location, Monday, September 9.
Bambang hopes that the East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) can immediately intervene in response to the closure of the drainage of waterways carried out by land owners which are crossed by waterways.
"As soon as possible, the government will reactivate the waterways and open them today," he said.
