Karawang Police Name Islamic Boarding School Leader Suspect In Obscenity Case

The Karawang Regency Police have named the leaders of Islamic boarding schools in the Karawang area as suspects in the molestation case against six female students who are still minors.

"This suspect has the initials KA (31) who is the leader of the Islamic boarding school in Karawang," said Karawang Police Chief AKBP Edwar Zulkarnaen as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 9.

The determination of the suspect was based on the report received by the police.

The police chief said that six female students were victims of the perpetrators. This perpetrator is a teacher and owner of one of the Islamic boarding schools in Karawang.

The suspect with the initials KA took action from 2023 to March 2024 by giving punishment to female students who violated the Islamic boarding school regulations.

The suspect sentenced the victims for violating Islamic boarding school regulations such as dating. The punishment given by the suspect, namely the victims, had to sleep for 7 days in class with only a tank top and shorts.

On the third day, continued the Police Chief, the suspect ordered the victims to take off all the clothes in the classroom.

In uncovering the case, his party has confiscated a number of evidences in the form of a piece of pink underwear, a piece of black pants, a piece of black pantshort pants (short pants), a piece of black miniset, a bra, and a piece of gray underwear.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 82 of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning the Determination of Perpu Number 1 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law no. 23/2002 concerning Child Protection becomes law. The threat is a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
