After Spain, Chery Opens Opportunity To Open A Car Factory In The UK
JAKARTA - One of China's automotive brands, Chery has ambitious plans to offer its vehicles to the European market. In fact, they plan to assemble their vehicles in the UK.
UK Chery Country Director Victor Zhang said that the certainty of this is only a matter of time before the company makes a final decision.
"For England, we are also evaluating. To be honest, we are open to all options and opportunities," Zhang was quoted as saying by BBC International, Monday, September 9.
He added that this was an approach taken by his party to attract European market consumers after the company also built a factory in Spain some time ago.
"The factory in Barcelona is a form of our commitment in Europe," Zhang added.

A spokesperson from the Department of Business, described the UK's automotive sector as a developing sector and viewed this as something positive for the country's industry.
"While we cannot speculate on commercial investment decisions, we welcome the launch of Omoda Chery International in the UK and will look positively at any new investments in the UK," the spokesman said.
England isn't the only country the factory will set up. Chery has also spoken with the Italian government about production arrangements in the Pizza country.
Although it will build factories in Europe, this manufacturer based in Wuhu denies that this step will depend on which countries are able to offer better incentives.
This is not just a government policy or incentive. You also need to look at the market itself from various aspects, for example education, because you need several talented people such as engineers and factory workers, then there is also a supply chain, and logistics, Zhang concluded
