JAKARTA - Kaspersky experts found the number of targets for cybercriminals who exploited popular children's games as bait soared by 30 percent in the first six months of 2024 compared to the second half of 2023.
The researchers analyzed the security risks in the game for young players and found that more than 132,000 users had been targeted by cybercriminals, with Minecraft being the most common cover of fraud.
"Throughout the research, we see attacks on children as common vectors of cybercriminals' activities. That is why cyber hygiene education and the use of trusted cybersecurity solutions are mandatory," said Vasily M. Kolesnikov, security expert at Kaspersky.
