Portable Steel Bridge Temporarily Installed To Overcome Riau-West Sumatra Lalin Constrained By Landslides
JAKARTA - The bailey bridge, which is made of a series of portable steel, has been installed on the Riau-West Sumatra Cross Road (West Sumatra) in Tanjung Alay Village, Kampar Regency.
Previously, the landslide was hampered by traffic. According to the Head of the Riau National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) Yohanis Tulak Todingrara, after the bridge was installed, his party would resume the road repair process.
The installation of the bailey bridge has been completed. Currently the bridge is also accessible," he said in Pekanbaru, Monday, September 9, which was confiscated by Antara.
He said, if later the total repair of the road has been completed, the bailey bridge will be dismantled again.
"So, this bridge is only temporarily installed, if the road repairs are complete, it will be demolished again," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Kampar Resort Police (Polres) Traffic Unit, AKP Vino Lestari, said that for the use of the bailey bridge, his party also regulated traffic, such as vehicles from Riau to West Sumatra using a bailey bridge and vehicles from West Sumatra to Riau using the remaining road from landslides.
"Especially for the bailey bridge, loading restrictions are not allowed above 20 tons. So if there are vehicles loaded from Riau to West Sumatra, they are missed by the existing road with an open-close system. With this bailey bridge, traffic flow will not be applied to open and close again," he said.
Previously, only one two-wheeled vehicle was implemented to open road closures due to landslides on the West Sumatra-Riau Cross Road. Landslides occur due to high rainfall in recent times, causing the road to collapse on Tuesday, August 20.
