PP Perbasi Asked To Maintain Danny Kosasih's Spirit
JAKARTA All stakeholders within the Central Board of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) are asked to maintain the spirit of Danny Kosasih, the general chairman of the federation who has just died.
Danny Kosasih or Kho Poo Thai passed away on Thursday night at 21.15 WIB at Medistra Hospital, South Jakarta. He breathed his last at the age of 69 due to a heart attack.
Secretary General of PP Perbasi Nirmala Dewi said that Danny Kosasih was a person who always worked with his heart. For this reason, he also wants all current administrators to imitate how Susak works, Danny's nickname.
"Almost 100 percent of the time is given for Indonesian basketball. This is extraordinary," said Nirmala in a statement received.
"He has time to jump into the regions. Maybe the head of other sports may not necessarily be able to visit the administrators of all provinces, but he visits all administrators in all provinces and almost all in districts/cities," he added.
Danny Kosasih's death left a deep sorrow for Indonesian basketball. The figure who served two terms for the chairman of Perbasi made a number of brilliant achievements for Indonesian basketball.
Danny left his wife named The Sie Ming, three children, and two grandchildren. His children are Luciana Sani Kosasih (first child), Kho Andronicus Kosasih (second child), and finally Kho Alvin Kosasih.
Nirmala requested that all administrators maintain the coaching of Indonesian basketball which has been inherited by Danny Kosasih. He hoped that Susuk's departure would not dampen their enthusiasm.
"We know that all are sad and devastated by the passing of our general chairman, our teachers, our role models. However, Indonesian basketball development must continue. All activities to advance Indonesian basketball must continue," he said.

At first, Danny Kosasih jumped into basketball by becoming a player. He started his journey by strengthening You Hui's club or now known as Kumala Jaya in Semarang.
Fate then led him to pursue the world of coaching after deciding to retire early. He chose the track of the coach because he felt he could not be far from basketball.
At the beginning of the training, Danny led several school clubs. He then won the trust of being the manager of the Indonesian basketball national team at the 1999 SEA Games.
At that time he succeeded in helping present a bronze medal for the Red and White. Then at the Kuala Lumpur 2001 SEA Games, Danny helped Indonesia win a silver medal.
His actions made him later elected as General Chair of PP Perbasi in the 2014-2019 period and the 2019-2024 period.
During his leadership of Perbasi, Danny managed to bring the men's basketball team to present the gold medal at the 2021 SEA Games Hanoi and the women's gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games Cambodia.
In addition, he also led the women's national team 5on5 promotions to FIBA Asia Division A, the women's national team 3X3 ranked third in the FIBA 3X3 Asia Cup 2022, and was successful in organizing the FIBA Asia Cup and successfully implementing the FIBA World Cup 2023.
Danny's leadership in Perbasi will end in October 2024. This follows the plan for PERBASI to hold a National Conference on October 28-31, 2024 with the main agenda of selecting the new general chairman.
