Densus 88 Arrest Terrorist In Gorontalo, Allegedly Al Qaeda Network

The National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 arrested a terrorist with the initials YLK in the Gorontalo area. The suspect is suspected of being affiliated with the Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) network.

"Yes, it is true (the arrest of one terrorist suspect)," said the spokesman for the National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88, Kombes Aswin Siregar when confirmed, Tuesday, September 3.

Regarding YLK's alleged involvement in the AQAP network and the chronology of the arrests, Aswin did not clearly convey it.

Based on information, YLK was arrested by Toruato Village, Telaga District, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Previously, Densus 88 Anti-terror arrested three terrorist suspects in several areas. First, the HOK which was arrested in Batu, East Java, on July 31, 2024.

The 19-year-old terrorist suspect is said to have assembled a bomb and plans to carry out suicide bombings in two places of worship.

The second arrest is the prosecution of RJ and AM who are supporters of ISIS. They were arrested in West Jakarta, on August 6.
