Electability Of More Than 60 Percent, Willem-Giyai Pair Wins Easily In Central Papua Pilkada
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Voice Laboratory (LSI) issued survey results regarding the preferences of the people of Central Papua Province ahead of the 2024 Pilkada.
The survey results show that the highest candidate rate for the Central Papua regional head candidate is held by the pair Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai with a vote of up to 60.7 percent.
"The first position of the pair Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai got 60.7 percent. Then the Meki Nawipa-Denas Geley pair was chosen by 12.2 percent, Natalis Tabuni-Titus Natkime was chosen by 10.6 percent, John Wempi Wetipo-Ausilius Youw was chosen by 8.1 percent, and 8.4 percent, have not made a choice," said LSI Executive Director Albertus Dino in his statement, Monday, September 2.
Dino stated that the high electability rate of the Willem Wandik-Aloysius Giyai pair has a significant relationship with the level of popularity and acceptability of the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor who were tested by respondents by giving 4 names.
When asked respondents about how familiar and accepted or liked by the 4 candidate pairs in the people of Central Papua, the survey results noted that Willem Wandik-Giyai was known by 89.9 percent and liked by 91.3 percent of those who knew his name.
"This is because Willem Wandik is one of the Papuan Autonomous Region Expansion Study Team (DOB), one of which was formed by Central Papua Province, while Aloysius Giyai is known as a Papuan health figure who has succeeded in improving the health service system in Papua," said Dino.
Meanwhile, the Meky Nawipa-Denas Geley pair is known by 40.4 percent of the population and is liked by 32.2 percent. Where Meky Nawipa is only known as a Papuan youth who is the Pilot.
"This is not special because there were a lot before Meky Nawipa, an Indigenous Papuan, who was a Pilot at Garuda Indonesia and Merpati Nusantara," said Dino.
Then the Natkime Natalis couple was known by 30.8 percent of the residents and liked by 29.9 percent of those who knew him. "Another couple John Wempi Wetipo-Ausilius Youw is known by 51.7 percent of the residents and is liked by 26.8 percent of those who know him," continued Dino.
Dino revealed that Willem Wandik as a Candidate for Governor in the people of Central Papua was included in the sociometric category. This is related to Willem Wandik's leadership style while serving as Regent in Puncak Regency.
Meanwhile, the other three figures who will be cagub, said Dino, are included in the category of perceived popularity (known but disliked) because their reputation is less positive and detrimental to their personal behavior.
For example, added Dino, former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Jhon Wempi Wetipo is famous for being reported to the law by his ex-wife, Yakoba, reporting the former Jayawijaya regent to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters.
"Not to mention the issue of children outside of marriage with Veronica Jennifer and found resistance to John Wempi Wetipo, which is considered by the people of Central Papua, he is not an Indigenous Central Papuan person," he said.
