BYD Records New Energy Vehicle Sales Record In August

JAKARTA - One of the largest electric vehicle manufacturers in the world, BYD again set a record sales of new energy vehicles (NEV) in August 2024. Total monthly sales reportedly reached 373,083 units, surpassing the previous record reached in July of 342,383 units.

Obviously, this achievement is impressive in the midst of increasingly fierce competition and slowing global-level sales of electric vehicles.

The type of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) BYD also continues to be in demand, reaching its sixth record high since March 2024. The company reported total NEV sales (passenger vehicle) of 370,854 units, with annual growth of 35.3 percent. PHEV itself experienced very significant growth, reaching 222,384 units with an increase of 73 percent compared to last year. Meanwhile, sales of battery-electric vehicles (BEV) increased 12 percent to 148,470 units.

Meanwhile, the best-selling model during August was under the Dinasty and Ocean series as many as 355,679 units and then the Denza series as many as 9,989 units, the Yangwang 310 units and the Fang Cheng Bao series as many as 4,876 units.

In addition to passenger vehicles, BYD has also succeeded in increasing sales of commercial vehicles. In August, the company sold 2,289 commercial vehicles, up from 300 units in the same period last year.

Cumulatively from January to the end of August, BYD has sold 2.33 million NEV, an increase of 9.3 percent compared to the previous year. Vehicle production has also increased, with total production reaching 366,973 units.

This strong performance further strengthens BYD's position as global NEV market leader. With product innovations that continue to develop and effective marketing strategies, BYD continues to expand its market reach both at home and abroad.
