Tighten Security Of The 2nd IAF Summit, Police Deploy 18 Tracking Dogs

JAKARTA - The National Police are implementing extra security to ensure the smooth running of the 2nd Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) Summit. The event was also held in conjunction with the 2024 High Level Forum on Multi Stakeholders Partnership (HLF MSP) in Bali.

Kasubsatgas Sterilization K9 Kombes Pol Soedaryono also deployed 18 sniffer dogs from the K9 team for security in the field.

"There are three races that we carry, namely Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd, and Labrador. We brought five dogs from the Ditpolsatwa Korsabhara Baharkam Polri, five dogs from the Central Java Police and eight dogs from the East Java Regional Police. So, the combination has arrived since August 28, 2024," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

Soedaryono explained that the sniffer dog that was deployed had the expertise of tracking explosives and hazardous materials.

"Compared to humans who only have receptors to detect smell, K9 is able to detect materials mixed with other materials, or meaning they can detect them in complex environmental situations," he explained.

The dog's job is to sterilize, detect, and ensure that the location used for the event is no threat or danger so that the implementation of this international event runs smoothly.

"Indeed, our security pattern follows from the direction of their Paspampres in ring 1 in several places, such as the Mulia Hotel. We come there to detect, check the entire building; indoors, parking lots, and rooms and rooms that approximately need to be sterile," he said.

He said that the reason behind the comprehensive security was because there were several state guests who were not sure if the place they visited was not sterilized first.

Therefore, his party needs to give confidence to state guests that the holding place of the 2nd IAF Summit and 2024 MSP HLF is safe and comfortable.

On the other hand, the TNI-Polri alerted 13,000 personnel to secure the guests who attended the two international events on September 1, 2024 in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali.

Head of Baharkam Polri Komjen Pol Mohammad Fadil Imran said the security of the Indonesian National Police during the 2nd IAF and the 2024 MSP HLF in Bali showed Indonesia's position as a safe place for international diplomacy.

"Security by the TNI and Polri in this forum shows that the Indonesian nation is a safe, open country and fully committed to dynamic and mutually beneficial international relations," said Fadil on Friday (30/8).

Therefore, he said, both the TNI, Polri and Balinese people not only maintain security, but also must give a good impression in strengthening Indonesia's position in diplomacy and international cooperation.
