Google Restricts Responses To US Elections On Gemini Platform
JAKARTA Google is trying to provide information protection related to the topic of elections in the US. There are several new initiatives and policies from Google, one of which is limiting election questions at Gemini.
This restriction plan has been disclosed since the end of last year. At that time, Google said that it would limit the types of questions related to the elections at Bard, now called Gemini, and at Search Generative Experience (SGE).
This policy has been implemented because the US elections are close. Google says that this restriction is not only imposed on the Gemini app, but also on other Google websites and products that are integrated with Gemini.
"We are also implementing restrictions on elections to many of these products, including the AI Search summary, a summary that YouTube AI creates for Direct Chat, Gems, and image creation at Gemini," Google said on its official website.

The response to the election was deliberately limited because Gemini used Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. According to Google, this Big Language Model (LLM) can make mistakes in absorbing or studying the issue of elections circulating in the US.
"Our users rely on us to provide reliable and up-to-date information on topics such as the latest candidates, voting processes, and election results. This new technology can make mistakes," Google explained.
Alternatively, Gemini users who ask questions related to the general election will be directed to Google Search. This search engine will provide more new and accurate information compared to LLM models that still need to be trained.
