Indra Sjafri Expressed The Cause Of The Defeat Of The Indonesian U-20 National Team From Thailand U-20

JAKARTA - The U-20 Indonesian national team coach, Indra Sjafri, revealed the cause of the team's defeat during the U-20 Thailand meeting in the second match of Seoul Earth on Us Cup 2024. According to the coach, there was one reason that made the team finally fall.

Appearing at the Mokdong Stadium, South Korea, on Friday, August 30, 2024, WIB afternoon, the U-20 Indonesian national team lost 0-2 to Thailand. Thailand's opening goal was created by Caelan Tanadon Ryan after utilizing Rahmat Syawal's blunder in the 10th minute.

Instead of equalizing, Garuda Muda actually conceded again through Rattaphum Phankhechon after the referee did not stop the match in the 90+1 minute.

After the match, the coach of the Indonesian U-20 national team, Indra Sjafri, revealed that the reason why Garuda Muda fell in Thailand's hands. Indra Sjafri said, when fighting the Young War Elephant, the situation was different. In the first half he conducted an experiment by rotating the players.

This was done by Indra Sjafri with the aim of giving opportunities to other players who had not yet received playing minutes in the first match against Argentina U-20.

"First, Thailand's opponents are different because the goal of this tournament is that we try several new players to conclude whether they are of poor quality or not. So, there has been a change," said Indra Sjafri after the match on Friday, August 30, 2024.

"Secondly, we tried in the second half to build attacks with new substitutions," he said.

From this experiment, the U-20 Indonesian national team's game against Thailand was a bit different than against Argentina U-20. Garuda Muda was no more aggressive than the tournament's first match.

Indra Sjafri did rotate in the initial line-up of the U-20 Indonesian national team against Thailand.

He made five changes to the initial line-up by installing I Wayan Artha Wiguna, Rahmat Syawal, Maouri Simon, Marselinus Ama Ola, and Muhammad Ragil as starters.

Apart from that, the U-20 Indonesian national team will next face the host South Korea on August 31, 2024.

Indonesia U-20 did participate in the mini tournament in South Korea to prepare for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification.

As a result, Indra Sjafri wants to field all the players so they can find out which players will be brought for the qualification early.
