Meta Allows Pre-Adolescent Children To Access Horizon World With Parents' Permission

JAKARTA - Meta announced that it will open up Horizon World access for pre-teen users in the coming months. But later, parents will have to give their children consent first.

So, after a preteen asks for access to Horizon Worlds, parents will agree and determine what world their children can access, such as The Space Station and The Aquarium.

"Recently we started giving parents the ability to agree to individual contacts that can chat, call, and invite/accept invitations to join them in an experience that is approved by parents across the Meta Horizon ecosystem," the company wrote in its announcement.

Like children aged 13 to 17 years, the worlds on Meta Horizon created specifically for 18+ players will not be visible or available to pre-rejudictants with accounts managed by parents.

In addition, parents can also adjust further settings there, such as disabling voice chats on Horizon Worlds, except for certain contacts that have been approved.

Then, the status and visibility settings of pre-teen children will also be set to be shown as 'offline' for others by default, and only parents can change this setting.

"We are collaborating with third-party organizations and advisors, parents, and families, to help shape pre-adolescent experiences on Horizon Worlds through our design partnerships," the company concluded.
