Ukrainian F-16 Fighter Jet Destroyed In Accident

JAKARTA - Ukraine's F-16 fighter jet crashed in an accident on Monday. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

US defense officials told Reuters on Thursday, August 29, that the F-16 fighter jet accident was not due to Russian gunfire. But it remains to be ascertained that the cause of this incident is a mechanical failure or a pilot error.

Russia launched missile and drone attacks on Ukraine on Monday, a Ukrainian Air Force commander said, which was followed by another major strike on Tuesday.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the F-16 jet was used to fend off attacks on Monday and showed good results.

Zelenskiy announced on August 5, Ukraine had started flying the F-16 for domestic operations, confirming the arrival of a long-awaited US-made fighter jet nearly 2.5 years after the full-scale Russian invasion.
