Delay Was Affected By DOGS, Now Blockchain TONS Is Normal Again

JAKARTA - Telegram's blockchain network, TON, experienced a serious disruption for more than three hours on Tuesday night, where no new blocks were produced. This disruption was triggered by a major spike in usage, driven by the launch of a popular coin meme called DOGS.

After being stopped, the TON development team immediately gave an official statement to calm users that their assets were still safe. In a post on platform X, the team said, "It seems that the heavy load associated with the DOGS minting token. The TON core team is working on finding a solution." Based on data from the Tonscan block explorer, the last block that was successfully signed was recorded at 16:23 UTC.

This disruption first occurred during Asian trading hours and lasted for about seven hours. However, the disruption has little impact on the price of TONS already under pressure due to various negative news, including the recent arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France.

The Impact Of High Transaction Volume

The DOGS, which just launched on Monday, immediately broke through the top 75 of the most popular cryptocurrency by market cap. The launch of this token is accompanied by an airdrop to 10 million Telegram-based app users, which triggers large hype and puts heavy pressure on the network. This caused serious congestion until finally the blockchain TON stalled on Tuesday night.

The TON blockchain network resumed operations on Thursday after successfully overcoming the disruption. According to the development team, the main cause of this disruption is an abnormal spike in transaction volume, which interferes with the network consensus mechanism.

Although Telegram and TON operate separately, this cryptocurrency remains a favorite among users. Content creators on Telegram can obtain and transfer ton tokens on the platform, which makes them popular assets despite experiencing disruptions.
