President Pezeshkian Emphasizes Peace And Involvement As Iran's Foreign Policy

JAKARTA - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian once again emphasized his foreign policy of seeking peace and involvement with the rest of the world.

Speaking at the introductory ceremony of the new foreign minister in Tehran on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian said, "We don't want to go to war with anyone, but we will oppose any oppression at any point and will be hostile to death," as reported by IRNA August 28.

Regarding the sanctions imposed by the West on Tehran, President Pezehskian noted, the more Iran strengthens relations with other countries, the more unacceptable it will be.

He stressed the need to improve relations with neighboring countries, saying if Iran had friendly relations with 15 or 16 neighboring countries, US sanctions would have no impact on the country.

President Pezeshkian underlined the need to improve relations among Muslim countries, saying, "We Muslims are brothers; peace must be built between brothers."

"Europeans open their borders to each other, unite their currencies, but we Muslims build walls between us," he said.

Previously, President Pezeshkian also emphasized the issue of cooperation with the world when delivering his first speech after the inauguration by the Iranian Parliament on July 30.

President Pezeshkian called on the international community to cooperate with Iran to address regional and global challenges, insisting Islam is a peaceful religion, in its inaugural speech after the inauguration.

As the core of its foreign policy, President Pezeshkian highlighted three main principles: dignity, wisdom and benefit.

He also promised constructive involvement with the world would be the basis for his government's approach to foreign affairs.
