The Ministry Of PUPR Asks For Additional Budget Of IDR 61.31 Trillion For Next Year, What For?

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has proposed an additional budget for 2025. In the 2025 State Budget Draft (RAPBN), the Ministry of PUPR only received a budget of IDR 75.63 trillion.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said, in order to follow up on the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Elected President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani in a limited meeting, her ministry submitted additional proposals through the letter of the Minister of PUPR Number 725 dated August 8, 2024.

"The Ministry of PUPR has sharpened the proposed 2025 budget needs to IDR 136.95 trillion. Currently, the 2025 budget ceiling is IDR 75.63 trillion. So, it still requires a budget of IDR 61.31 trillion," Basuki said at a Working Meeting with Commission V DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 28.

Basuki detailed that the additional priority of the budget will be used, among others, food and energy security support, namely the completion of the on going dam and the plan for a new dam.

"Building a dam. In the next five years, it is targeted to be around 50 dams," he said.

Then, the construction of tertiary networks and printed rice fields. Basuki said, based on the new Presidential Regulation (Perpres) it was the responsibility of the Ministry of PUPR.

Next, the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation networks and the construction of dams to improve the performance of Indonesia's irrigation network.

Furthermore, said Basuki, the additional budget will also be used for the construction of raw water networks and dams, completion of infrastructure development in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), infrastructure development for the new autonomy region (DOB) of Papua.

"The development of Papua's DOB infrastructure because it is still only starting at the end of this year, so there is still a lot more infrastructure for this Papuan DOB," he explained.

In addition, the budget is also intended for the construction of expressways, in this case to support the construction so that the attraction of investment, aka the Internal Rate of Return (IRR), can increase.

Then, the construction of suspension bridges, the construction of drinking water SPAM and wastewater management. Furthermore, for the construction of educational facilities and infrastructure, sports and markets.

"The next thing is the construction of flats, self-help houses, regular special houses and PSU assistance in the housing sector and community-based infrastructure," he added.
