Police Arrest 2 Extortion Perpetrators Who Claimed To Be The AGO's Pidsus Task Force
The South Labuhanbatu Resort Police (Polres), North Sumatra, arrested two suspected perpetrators who claimed to be members of the Special Crimes Task Force (Pidsus) of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) who extorted Rp35 million.
"The two perpetrators were arrested on Friday (23/8), allegedly extorting an employee at the Silangkitang sub-district office with the initials MS," said Head of Public Relations of the Labusel Police, AKP Sujono in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 27.
The two perpetrators had the initials EJ (49), a former staff of the Prosecutor's Office, and S (51), a former village head (kades) in South Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra.
The case began when the EJ perpetrator came to the perpetrator S's house to discuss data manipulation of the distribution of goat grants, in Bintais Hamlet, Mandalasena Village, Silangkitang District, Labusel Regency on August 12, 2024.
Then, the EJ perpetrator came to the Silangkitang sub-district head office by claiming to be a member of the Indonesian Attorney General's Special Task Force to scare local officials.
"The goal is to scare local officials, but so that the case is reconciled and they ask for Rp35 million," he said.
Sujono said that the EJ perpetrator had made a fake summons for the goat grant case on August 20, 2024. The victim felt threatened and then gave Rp35 million to the EJ perpetrator on August 23, 2024.
"Not long after the money was handed over, the South Labuhanbatu District Attorney's team and the South Labuhanbatu Police arrested both of them," he said.

In addition to arresting the two perpetrators, officers also secured IDR 5 million in cash, cellphones, and Identification of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office used by EJ perpetrators.
His party is also currently investigating further into the case, including allegations that there were other victims from the perpetrators.
For their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 368 paragraph (1) Subs Article 369 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 378 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code.
"Currently, the two perpetrators have been detained at the South Labuhanbatu Police for further processing," said AKP Sujono.
