Basuki Hadimuljono: IKN For Millennials And Gen Z, Not Me And Pak Jokowi
JAKARTA - The capital city of Nusantara (IKN) became a mega project that was a mainstay in the era of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). In September, the government will gradually transfer the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) from Jakarta to IKN.
The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) as well as the Acting Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, said that IKN was designed as a forest city with the support of digital technology. In line with this, the ASN who will be placed there are focused on young people who are expert in the digital field.
Basuki also explained Indonesia's demographic profile. He said, he entered the baby boomer section. Meanwhile, according to him, later IKN will be dominantly inhabited by young people.
"IKN is for Millennials and Gen Z. Not for me, not for Pak Jokowi," said Basuki at the ASN Talent Fest 2024 & ASN 2023 event quoted from the PAN-RB Ministry YouTube channel, Tuesday, August 27.
Basuki said, IKN is designed for the city of the future and the city of young people in the future. Therefore, it is hoped that young ASNs will be even more productive in carrying out their work duties at IKN.
"What these ASNs have to do. Whatever the concept, you (as) ASN must be able to deliver safe programs that are given to ministries/agencies. Any concept if not delivered is just nonsense. So, planning, budgeting, programming, systems must be. But, how to deliver this must be criticized by our ASN," said Basuki.
On this occasion, Basuki also provided the latest developments related to the IKN project. He said that currently some of the basic infrastructure in IKN has been completed.
First there is a reservoir. Of the total target for the construction of 60 reservoirs, currently there are 22 that have been completed. This reservoir carries the concept of water conservation.

IKN also carries the concept of 10 minutes city, so that the distance of residence with offices and commercial areas can be reached on foot or using mass transportation.
"Then connectivity at IKN, we use a greener connectivity. Then, the regional infrastructure uses green energy. There is the Balang Island Bridge that connects Penajam and Balikpapan," he concluded.
