To Make It Easier To Catch Fish, Minister Trenggono Develops 'Laut Nusantara' Application
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) through the Marine and Fisheries Research and Human Resources Agency (BRSDM) is developing innovative fishing technology with an android-based application. The application is called Laut Nusantara.
Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono explained the purpose of this application so that the greater benefits for Indonesian fishermen. As well as being the driving force for the transformation of fishermen culture from 'fishing' to 'catching fish' through the use of information technology.
According to Trenggono, with just one application, fishermen can plan their fishing activities better, start independently determining the closest fishing location, estimating fuel needs, and estimating the selling price, while still taking into account weather conditions and waves while working at sea.
"Yes, fishermen will be taught. There is a Regent. Do The village chiefs already know that there is Laut Nusantara application? Yes, you have to know" he said, through a written statement, Saturday, March 27.
Meanwhile, the Head of the BRSDM Marine Research Center I Nyoman Radiarta said the Laut Nusantara application combines satellite observation and modeling data which are all integrated into real-time, and the data is also continuously updated every day.
Currently, there is a development in the form of a new feature that is able to show three types of fish with high economic value, namely yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, and albakore tuna. Previously there were applications in the Nusantara Sea, namely lemuru fish, bigeye tuna, and skipjack.
"We are from BRSDM. So this application is already the fifth version, Sir. So we combine the national fish locations then the fish species by species. There are lemuru fish, there are various species of tuna and fish locations nationally", said Nyoman.

In developing this application, said Nyoman, the BRSDM Marine Research and Observation Center worked together with PT. XL Axiata Tbk.
"Even though we have collaborated with XL Axiata, all platforms can use this application", he said.
To date, Laut Nusantara has been downloaded by 52 thousand users and socialized in 28 regions in Indonesia. Through the performance of Laut Nusantara and other KKP digital service innovations, KKP has also been awarded the Public Information Openness award in 2020.
