Google Messages Presents New Features To Make It Easier To Find Group Chats
JAKARTA - Google Messages is testing a new feature that will make it easier for users to find and send messages to existing group chats directly from the New Conversation screen. This feature adds a new section called "Group chats" into search results on the New Conversation page, which will feature all group chats that match search keywords.
This feature is being tested in the latest beta version of Google Messages (version 20240820_00_RC00), as reported by 9to5Google. In attached screenshots, it is seen that the "Group chats" section will appear under the individual contact list when the user enters the search word in the "To" column on the New Conversation page. This section will display group chats that match the keyword, along with the last message preview.
This feature allows users to search for group chats based on group names or group participant names. When the user selects one of the group chats that appear in the search results, they will be directed to the chat immediately.

It should be noted that the Google Messages search function actually supports the search for group chats. However, this upcoming feature provides another way for users to achieve the same results more easily.
This feature is currently only available in Google Messages beta versions, and is likely to be in a stable version via future updates, along with other changes being developed, such as Magic Compose reshuffle and new animations. Additionally, Google is also likely to soon bring dual-SIM support for RCS chats in this app, once previously the feature was tested on the beta channel.
