Crocodile Marriage Season Is Aggressive, Residents Are Asked Not To Stay Away From Rivers In South Lampung
LAMPUNG - The South Lampung Regency Government (Pemkab) appealed to local residents not to move at the location where crocodiles appeared in the Palas District River.
This appeal is based on reports from residents of Palas Subdistrict, there are hundreds of crocodiles active in the area with high potential to endanger the community.
"We are currently urging people around the river not to do activities in the area first. We are worried that the incident of crocodiles attacking humans will happen again," he said.
He explained that during the current season of mating and laying eggs, crocodiles usually become more sensitive, aggressive or easy to attack, and more frequent surfaces.
Therefore, he also asked residents to avoid actions that could invite the arrival of these water predators, including by not raising livestock above or by the river, not throwing animal carcasses into the river, and not throwing household waste into the river.
"Meanwhile, we are still conducting socialization and education about the dangers of dealing with the crocodile," he said.

He added, to anticipate the conflict between crocodiles and humans, his party has also given warnings and appeals in a number of locations reported by crocodiles so that residents who are at the location can be vigilant.
"The South Lampung Regency Government continues to coordinate with the Lampung Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) to evacuate the crocodiles in the embankment river in Palas District," he said.
To note, a man named Febriyanto from Bumi Restu Village, Palas District, South Lampung Regency, Lampung, was injured when he was attacked by a crocodile while looking for grass in the river area.
As a result of the crocodile attack, Febriyanto had to be rushed to the nearest Puskesmas to get help from the medical team.
