Puncak Bogor Street Vendors Affected By Phase II Control Diverted To The Mount Mas Rest Area

BOGOR - Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) accommodates Street Vendors (PKL) in the Puncak tourist area who are affected by phase II control at the Gunung Mas Rest Area.

"The principle is that the arrangement, displacement, and relocation, because the Bogor Regency Government with the support of the central government through the Ministry of PUPR has built a rest area," said Acting (Pj) Bogor Regent Asmawa Tosepu after leading the enforcement rally in Cisarua, Monday, August 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the kiosks in the Gunung Mas Rest Area have now been filled with more than 50 percent by street vendors who were affected by the first phase of control.

According to him, PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) as the land owner is even ready to provide additional land to expand the rest area.

"All traders who occupy this illegal building have prepared a shop or kiosk in the Gunung Mas Rest Area which is very representative. Even PTPN will provide land when they still need it," said Asmawa.

Meanwhile, the Director of PT Sayuga Wisata Supriadi Jufri as the manager of the Gunung Mas Rest Area explained that the Bogor Regency Government has been collecting data on street vendors in the Puncak tourist area since 2016 for relocation.

At that time there were more than 1,000 registered traders. Then, some of them were placed in parking bags along the Puncak tourist route.

"Some of them are given a place in the Gunung Mas Rest Area. Even some street vendors who are disciplined today actually already have the key to the kiosk, just occupy it," said Jufri.

He explained that currently the Bogor Regency Government is proposing an expansion of the rest area to PTPN which currently has an area of 7 hectares.

"We will expand 3.8 hectares, because today there is still a shortage for vehicle parking. So 70 percent will be for additional parking lots," he said.

The control of phase II of the Puncak tourist area targets 196 illegal buildings. But as many as 96 buildings have been independently demolished by their owners.

In controlling the first phase of the merchant stall on Monday (24/7), the Bogor Regency Government razed 329 buildings along the Puncak Line, consisting of 185 buildings from Gantole to the Gunung Mas Rest Area, and 144 buildings from the Taman Safari Indonesia intersection to the Gunung Mas Rest Area.

The Bogor Regency Government also ensures that the economy of street vendors in tourist areas will be better after moving to the Gunung Mas Rest Area.

The construction of a rest area on an area of 7 hectares belonging to PT Perkebunan Nusantara has been carried out since 2020-2021.

The Gunung Mas Rest Area has a capacity of 516 kiosks consisting of 100 stalls for wet traders such as vegetables and fruit, as well as 416 kiosks for dry traders, such as souvenirs and snacks. Each kiosk has an area of 11 square meters, both wet and dry.
