Throughout 2024, The DKI Provincial Government Handles 59 Monkeypox Cases In Jakarta
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government recorded as many as 59 confirmed cases of monkeypox (Monkeypox/Mpox) throughout 2024. Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Ani Ruspitawati said, while based on the spread of Mpox cases in Jakarta in 2024, there were 11 cases of Mpox spread across eight sub-districts in Jakarta., Kebon Jeruk, Matraman, Pasar Minggu, Tanah Abang and Tanjung Priok. All cases were found in residents aged 21 to 50 years.
The case of Mpox in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta, continues to be a concern even though the status of the pandemic has been revoked by the World Health Organization (WHO) on May 5, 2023. Therefore, early vigilance against Mpox disease is still being carried out to prevent further spread. Ani said that the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI continues to run a silting prevention system against Mpox, including health promotion related to prevention and transmission of Mpox, reporting of case discovery through hospitals and health centers. In addition, a control case study was also carried out that provided recommendations for handling. The results of the study of identifying groups prone to Mpox transmission, namely men aged 20-40 years who work outside the home, have a sexual orientation of homosexual and bisexual as well as HIV or IMS patients. This group is prioritized in the Mpox-related health education and promotion program.
Ani said the Mpox vaccination program in 2023 had reached 495 people from a key population or high risk group. "Until now, 495 people have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 430 people have received the second dose. There are still 42 vials of vaccine that will be used as needed," said Ani, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 26.
