Ridwan Kamil Admits He Doesn't Have A Problem If He Has To Fight Anies And PDIP In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election
JAKARTA - Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Ridwan Kamil admits that there is no problem if you have to fight the incumbent Anies Baswedan, who will most likely be promoted by PDIP in the Jakarta gubernatorial and deputy governorial elections (Pilgub).
According to him, the more pairs of candidates for regional heads in Jakarta, it will benefit the community.
"The more candidate pairs, the better for the citizens of Jakarta. If possible, five more, if possible, there will be no problems," said Ridwan Kamil at the PSI DPP Basecamp, Central Jakarta, Sunday, August 25.
What is clear, said Ridwan Kamil, is that the people of Jakarta will choose a candidate for regional head who provides a real solution to the Jakarta issue.
"Because later residents will have many rational choices, which solutions will be brought by the candidates, most relevant to the next 5 years, right. For example, we have a new Jakarta slogan because we have an idea after Jakarta is left to IKN, right? So there are many new things that we have to convey," said Ridwan Kamil.
Apart from PSI, Ridwan Kamil and Suswono were also promoted by 11 political parties that are members of KIM Plus, namely the Golkar Party, Gerindra, Democrats, PAN, Gelora, Garuda, PKB, PKS, Perindo, PPP, and Nasdem.
Anies Baswedan has the potential to be strongly promoted by PDIP after the Constitutional Court (MK) read out the decision Number 60/PUU-XXII/2024 regarding the conditions for carrying out the candidate pair for regional head in the regional elections.
In its decision, the Constitutional Court canceled the provisions of Article 40 paragraph (1) of the Pilkada Law which states that political parties or coalitions of political parties can register candidate pairs if they meet the requirements for obtaining at least 20 percent of the total DPRD seats or 25 percent of the accumulated valid votes in the general election for DPRD members in the area concerned.
The Constitutional Court decided that all political parties participating in the election could propose pairs of candidates for regional heads, especially cagub-cawagub, provided that they met the requirements for obtaining valid votes of 6.5 percent to 10 percent by taking into account the number of permanent voters (DPT) in each region.
For example, provinces with a population of more than 6 million people to 12 million people, political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election must get a valid vote of at least 7.5 percent in the province to be able to apply for a candidate pair for governor and deputy governor.
