7 Residents Died Due To Flash Floods In Ternate, Victims Could Increase
JAKARTA - The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) revealed that as many as two people survived, and seven others died in flash floods that hit Bara District, Ternate, North Maluku, in the early hours of Sunday, August 25.
Basarnas Operations Director Edy Prakoso said the number of victims was obtained based on data collection on joint SAR personnel in the field on Sunday morning. "The number of victims may still increase," said Jakarta, Sunday reported by ANTARA.
The joint SAR team, he said, is currently still trying to evacuate residents from building materials that collapsed after being hit by flash floods on Sunday at 03.30 WIT.
The joint SAR team consisted of Ternate SAR personnel, TNI, Polri, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Tagana, Ternate City Government, volunteers, and residents of Rua Village.

The Ternate SAR Office deployed two rescue cars, evacuation equipment, medical equipment, and communication to maximize search and rescue efforts for victims.
Weather conditions in Rua District, Ternate City on Sunday morning were reported to have light rain with wind speeds of 2-6 knots from the south.
To assist in the search process, his party appealed to the public to report to joint officers for those who felt their family members were missing.
