Jokowi Cancels Attending The PKB Congress In Bali, Represented By Ma'ruf Amin

BALI - President Joko Widodo is said to have canceled attending the 6th National Awakening Party (PKB) which was held tonight at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Bali Province.

Deputy Secretary General of PKB, Syaiful Huda, said that Jokowi had activities that had been scheduled, so he could not fly to Bali and attend the congress.

"At the same time there are activities that cannot be abandoned," Huda told reporters, Saturday, August 24.

Jokowi's presence will be represented by Vice President, Ma'ruf Amin, and Coordinating Minister for Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto.

"Yes, representing the president, there will be two later, the first is the Vice President, the second is the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs," said Huda.

Ahead of the congress, a line of wreaths were arranged from a number of figures installed at the Nusa Dua Hotel. The wreath contains messages of encouragement and good hope for the sustainability of the PKB in the future.

It appears that the senders of flower bouquets ranging from the General Chairperson of the PDI-P, Megawati Soekarnoputri, and the Secretary General of the PDI-P DPP, Hasto Kristiyanto, Acting Chairman of the Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP) Mardiono, President of PKS, Ahmad Syaikhu, Member of the Indonesian Bawaslu, Loly Suhenty.

Then, there was also a wreath sent by the Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, the Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI Syarief Hasan, the President of the Confederation of SABUMUSI Irham Ali Syaifuddin, the Chairman of the PKS faction of the DPR RI Jazuli Juwaini, and the leaders of other high institutions.

The congress is the highest decision-making forum for PKB ahead of the change of management attended by all representatives or envoys from the regional leadership council (DPW) and branch leadership councils (DPC) throughout Indonesia, including the PKB autonomous body. This year, the congress was attended by thousands of PKB cadres.

Tonight, administrators at the regional level will evaluate Cak Imin's leadership over the past five years. This evaluation is used as the basis for determining whether Cak Imin deserves to return to lead the party or be replaced.

On the one hand, Cak Imin admitted that he would surrender if he was not elected to return to propose to the party in the next management period.

"Basically I give up whatever is the choice of the PKB branch, I will join. But I also have no ambition because being a ketum is a tough task that is not a matter of wanting, but a matter of responsibility," said Cak Imin on Friday, August 23.
