Right Archery Decisions Depart Early To The 2024 Paralympics

JAKARTA The Indonesian archery team made the right decision by coming early to France and preparing to face the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Archery is one of two sports (sports) with boccia who left for Paris on August 5. The goal is that they can adapt to the conditions there.

The decision made was right. As a result, they can adapt better to changing wind speed which is a tough challenge for Ken Swaguglang and his friends.

Swaguminang said that wind speed greatly affects archery sports. The problem is, changes in wind speed in Paris are very difficult to predict.

"Our training is more in control of conditions and the environment such as sunny, cloudy and wind. Today's wind is amazingly strong, I don't know why it's so strong since morning. While here I've never practiced in wind conditions as fast as today, the level of difficulty is higher, quite difficult and challenging," he said.

However, he said that he was ready with changes in weather conditions and wind. This situation, he said, would automatically be a challenge for all archery athletes.

"This is difficult, but if I get wind, everything gets wind too. Now it's close to the perfect score in the mix compound and individually. Some people have approached the score as well, but this archery is unpredictable," he said.

Indonesian Parapanahan Head Coach Idya Putra Harjianto said that the adaptation period since August 7 went as expected. Five athletes archery through the weather from the coldest 12 degrees to the hottest 37 degrees.

"We only train memorizing the pressure of the wind how strong and how change the direction of the shot, so that on D Day, God willing, there will be no obstacles," said Idya.

He continued, Indonesia's Parapanahan will take advantage of the final days towards the match to learn more about the strong winds of Paris that suddenly arrived.

"The minimum target is to enter the semifinals, because after all we have arrived here with a strength of five athletes, at least one to the semifinals. For the toughest competitors from India and China," said Idya.

At the 2024 Paralympics, the Parapanahan sport will be concentrated in Les Invalides, Paris, France.

In addition to Ken Swaguglang who competed in the open men's compound and mixed team compound numbers, the Indonesian archery team also relied on Kholidin (open men's recurve and mixed team recovery), Setiawan (open men's recurve and mixed team recurve), Teodora Audi Ferelly Ayudia (open women's compound and mixed team compound) and Wahyu Retno Wulandari (open women's return and mixed team recurve).
